March 31st- Day 1
These next two days involved lots of driving around and learning the area. The next morning the ranger’s gave us the full tour of Juneau, like the whole town and city (because it’s very tiny), and we were able to go on a tour near Mendenhall National Glacier. There were unbelievable sights around every corner, and dad could not stop exclaiming his excitement. I hiked in the snow for the first time, which was very exciting for a Georgia Girl who hasn't seen snow since last year. This trail also happened to be one that I would be taking people on tours, so it was a small glimpse into my future. We got to try out a restaurant on the channel called The Hanger, and they had an amazing halibut sandwich. The key thing about eating out at restaurants in Juneau is to eat before and after tourist season, because they raise their prices significantly. Another restaurant we went to was The Red Dog Saloon, which is a famous restaurant in Juneau, but it seemed like a tourist destination bar and grill. In addition the food was good, but nothing notable.
