April 27th-Day 28
Presentation day! Instead of going to the classroom we got out on the trail for our presentations, and I was both prepared and nervous. Lucky for us, Juneau gave us some great weather to do our tours on, cold rain, good thing I have my nice company gear to protect me (wink wink)! We split into three groups of ten with a lead guide, mine being Richard Stokes. My presentation was on the importance of the hidden ecosystems of the forest, with a focus on lichen and moss specifically. Some points I brought up were what moss and lichen were biologically, ecological significance, the differences between the two, and why they are so important. I hit my talking points and subjects that I wanted to, but I'm pretty sure you could tell I was a bit nervous, when I was speaking. After our group was finished with presentations and the hike, we had a final debrief and then headed home, and I took a nap.
Thursday seems to be potluck night, and so we had a bunch of people and food come over to our apartment. Cass made pizza dip, Maddison made lemon cookies and meatballs, Zane made an Asian inspired peanut sauce spaghetti, I made spaghetti and marinara, and people brought other miscellaneous items to snack on. During dinner we also got to put on the movie Luca, which was super cute. A funny/cute moment that occurred during potluck was when we were figuring out where we were going to eat, I said “in the family room”, and Parker and Madison said “we're a family?” It was a realization that we really have become a family!
Once everyone left Cass and I had to clean up, and we figured why not just clean the whole apartment, instead of just the kitchen. An hour and a half later our apartment was clean as a whistle and I was ready for bed. Tomorrow was another busy day, with presentations on the water happening( I didn't have to present though since I went today) so off to bed I went.
