April 26th-Day 27

Another day, another training, and it was going to be a long day, cue the song “Working 9-5”. The sessions are very structured and honestly very dense, so it is not that interesting to talk about. We have an hour lunch break, and with my packed lunch( just like in grade school), I got to eat lunch with Kiley in a hangout area. I’ve met Kiley before at church on Easter, Scott introduced us to each other, and so we got to hang out and learn about each other. During our second training block of the day, our instructors let us know that the Land presenters were going tomorrow. I was a part of that group and was a bit surprised at how quick I was going to have to prepare for tomorrow. I knew I wanted to talk about the importance of lichens and moss on an ecosystem, but creating a 10 minute talk was nerve racking.

When I got back home I wanted to walk down to Sandy beach/Treadwell to walk the trails and better prepare myself for tomorrow. I was able to talk out loud by myself on the trails and kind of get a sense of what I wanted to teach others about. Seeing the moss and lichen on the trails gave me ideas and inspiration for how I wanted to go about my flow of information. Four and a half miles later I was back home and feeling better about my presentation.

As I started making dinner, halfway through I got an itch for blueberry muffins and decided to make a batch. The only issue was that I did not have muffin or cupcake tins, so instead it was like a blueberry cake. I wanted to save it for the morning, which was not an easy thing to do, but my determination prevailed and I did not eat any that night. Instead I grabbed some chocolate moose track ice cream and a brownie! Cass, Hannah, Madison and Oyster, and I then had a movie night and continued watching the second Pirates of the Caribbean. We have less than an hour left, but people were tired and wanted to go to bed so we stopped the movie and switched to RPDR season 2. At the time it was Cass and I enjoying the show, she was working on her presentation, and I was working on my crocheting skills. An update on how I'm doing with crocheting, I have made two gecko hats and 5 coasters! They are far from perfect but each coaster seems to be looking better and better, stitch and shape wise specifically. Hopefully by the time I finish using my first ball of yarn, I'll become good enough to make a decent beanie hat for myself!

Hannah and I in training, having a blast(not really). I am wearing a hat that I watched her make a week or so ago.

(L→R) Kelsey, Paz, Karina, Hannah, Katherine, and I in training having fun(again not really, and at this point we were tired and over stimulated). Also Katherine, pictured right behind me, is crocheting a beautiful and fancy top for Hannah's Birthday that happened a week ago. She is easily the most skilled crocheter in our group, and was the inspiration for me to start crocheting.

Two gecko hats that I made one night!
