April 21st-Day 22

As I threw on some clothes and ran down the stairs, my heart was racing with excitement and a bit of doubt. I hopped in the car with Paz and Adam and we headed towards North Douglas, once again. Let me just say the radio at 1 in the morning is very weird, the ads, sayings, and songs were odd. We got to the spot and started to look towards the sky, and these gray forms started moving in the sky. I did not think I was going to be able to take pictures on my phone, but the guys said that apple had a feature that could possibly work. I tried to take a picture of the sky and to my astonishment the picture came back with green on it. My phone captured the Lights! Our eyes could not see the green or purple but our cameras were able to capture some of its beauty. After 45 minutes we headed back to the apartments, since we had the tide pool class in 5 hours, and then a defensive driving class right after.

Waking up was not easy, but I made it out the door with a cup of coffee right on time. Off to Auke bay we went. When we arrived we went straight down to the water and started looking for creatures. Over two hours we found starfish, sea urchins, sea anemones, fish, dungeness crabs, sea cucumbers, limpets, and a bunch of other creatures. I happened to find the largest sunflower starfish they have ever seen and held. At 10am we had to make our way over to the other class which was a defensive driving course. It was necessary, but not super interesting.

After coming back from the training I made lunch and started working on my blog some more. I am playing catch up right now on my days, and I am missing a good chunk of days still. I went for a run toward Sandy beach and was able to see an eagle in the nest as well as get relatively close to another one that was hanging out in a tree. While coming back from my run I had a moment of appreciation for the whole day. Even though I was tired beyond belief, being able to be outside enjoying the “warm”, sunny weather was an amazing feeling. I am enjoying the sunny days while I have them, three days in a row is crazy!

When I got back I made a quick meal and Madison came over. We finished the first extended edition of LOTR and started the second one. During the movie I started practicing  crocheting, but I kept getting stuck at the turn around part. Madison helped me figure it out and taught me how to do it! I love that I keep acquiring new skills! My night came to a late close and I headed to bed.
